Joey was born and raised in Miramar, Florida. He graduated cum laude from Florida International University College of Law. While at FIU Law, he served as a Staff Member of FIU Law Review and as a Teacher’s Assistant for the Legal Skills and Values Department. Following his first year of law school, Joey served as a judicial intern for Chief Judge Ivan F. Fernandez of the Third District Court of Appeal in Miami, Florida, and joined the EPGD team in 2021.
Before his time at FIU Law, Joey graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a degree in Criminology. During his undergraduate studies, Joey interned for the Honorable Charles M. Greene of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit. Also during his time at the University of Florida, Joey worked as a sports journalist for ESPN Gainesville and as a beat reporter covering the Florida Gators’ Men’s Basketball Team. Joey has always had a passion for writing, which helped spark his decision to pursue a legal career.
On a personal note: In his free time, Joey enjoys discovering new recipes to cook and catching every Miami Heat game he can.
