What production licenses do you need in Puerto Rico?

In Puerto Rico, any event requires a license issued by the government whether the event is public or private. This is required to ensure that the event is complying with all applicable regulations. In order to obtain this license, the organizer must present an application to the office of licenses and permissions corresponding with the city. The application must include information about the event, such as the location, time, number of attendees, and the type of event. If the event complies with all event laws, then the city will issue a license for it. The costs related with obtaining this license depend on the type of event and its size. These can also be specific to the city or area. 

What are you able to do with an event production license in Puerto Rico?  

An event production license in Puerto Rico allows a host to put on a private or public event. Events that require these licenses include concerts and music festivals, sporting events and competitions, fairs and expositions, and art exhibitions, among other kinds of events. Some events will have additional permits that are needed from other government agencies. 

Is it necessary to have any production degrees to obtain an event production license in Puerto Rico? 

It is not necessary to have a degree in event production to obtain a license in Puerto Rico. However, it is recommended to have some experience in planning and organizing events so that  the event is successful and complies with all rules and regulations. There are short technical courses that specialize in these topics. Additionally, it is possible gain experience by working for events or companies putting on events. 

Can a person without a production license put on an event?

In Puerto Rico, a person without a license cannot put on an event. This even includes unlicensed people working alongside someone with a license to put on an event. Each license issued is to a specific person or event, and cannot be extended to include other individuals or events. 

Who is in charge of event production licenses in Puerto Rico? 

In Puerto Rico, event production licenses are issued and regulated by the Department of Economic Development and Commerce and more specifically the Office of Regulation and Industrial Development. This department issues licenses for a variety of industries and economic activities in Puerto Rico. Each city also has its own department and regulations to oversee the licensing.
